Neuromuscular Therapy

In this pain relief technique, the massage therapist uses the neuromuscular system to balance and normalize muscle function and reduce the pain response. It can incorporate various tissue manipulation techniques and trigger-point therapy.

  • Neuromuscular Treatment
Usually requires more than one session to align connective tissue, fascia, and muscle.

  • Trigger Point Therapy
The therapist seeks to address the areas of contracted muscle tissue most people think of as “knots.” A trigger point is an area of muscles that is very sensitive to touch and can give a sensation of referred pain- pain that may be some distance from the source of irritation. Trigger points can arise from chronic tension, as well as acute injury or spasms. By using firm concentrated pressure, the therapist seeks to break up the adhesions, thus eliminating the cycle of spasm and pain. Communication during the session is paramount to successful treatment.
